Beaches are a boost for the economy

Along with the sun and fun, beaches can be a strong economic player locally and nationally.

We all know that beaches are a great place for fun and memories.  They are also a great contributor to the US economy.  Here are some beach facts.

More than twice as many people visit America's coast as visit state and national parks combined.

About 85 percent of all tourism-related revenue is generated in coastal states, where beaches are the leading tourist attraction.

Each year, goverment takes in $320 for every dollar it spends on beach nourishment.

One economist's estimate puts the overall contribution of beaches to the American economy at more than $320 billion annually.

Its a great time to buy on Sanibel and Captiva which boasts about 15 miles of white sandy beaches.
