The 3rd annual Oyster Eating Contest last year
was a huge success. Lamar Williams successfully defended his title to remain the
King of the Mollusk Munchers. There was some drama involved. As Williams and
fellow competitors Ron Clayton and Chuck Woods finished in a three-way tie with
48 oysters eaten in one minute – the same number that one last year’s
competition. After a 30-second tie-breaker, Williams was declared the winner,
having downed an additional 37 oysters.
