This Week's Recipe - YUM!

From Eat MORE of What You Love by Marlene Koch which provides low calorie, low fat, low sugar recipes that still TASTE GREAT!

Ooey Gooey Pizza Dip - Makes 10 servings

Ingredients:
1/2 cup light cream cheese
1/2 cup nonfat sour cream
3/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 cup pizza sauce
1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1. Preheat oven to 350F. In a small bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream and oregano. Stir until smooth.
2. Spread evenly into a 9-inch pie pan. Top with pizza sauce and then mozzarella cheese.
3. Sprinkle on the Parmesan cheese and bake for 15 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Tips: Add sauteed mushrooms or diced green peppers between the sauce and cheese for an extra boost of fiber and vitamins, or serve it with thick cuts of zucchini and sweet bell pepper in addition to the usual bread or pita chips, for extra healthy dipping.

Photography Relics On Display

Old cameras, photographs and even a vintage stereoscope with view cards are on display in the Rutland House at the Sanibel Historical Museum & Village.

Visitors will be able to experience the old-time stereoscope developed by Oliver Wendell Holmes in 1859. With this compact, hand-held viewer, a new industry and form of entertainment was created. The museum has two stereoscopes and many view cards on hand for visitors to try.

A stereoscope uses pictures taken by a camera with two lenses. Although the pictures appear the same, they are not. When looked at in a viewer, a person’s eyes will blend the two view into one, and the brain perceives it in three dimensions, the same as normal vision.

“Photography buffs have two reasons to come to the village right now 0 to see our display and to take advantage of the wonderful subjects on our beautiful grounds,” said Emilie Alfino, museum manager. “Artists in other media come all the time to paint images of our buildings and flora and fauna. I think photographers would find much of interest to them here at the village.”

The Sanibel Historical Museum & Village is located at 950 Dunlop Road, next to BIG ARTS just past Sanibel City Hall. It is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and is closed on holidays. Adults admission is $5; people under age 18 are admitted free. Spring has Sprung! Fun Family Events!

Spring Festival At Community Park:
The Children's education center of the Islands will hold its annual Spring Festival on Saturday, April 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sanibel Community Park, located on Periwinkle Way.

Easter Egg Hunt At Church:
The annual Easter egg hunt at Sanibel Community Church will be held on Saturday, April 7 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring the family for fun and games, crafts, food and age-divided egg hunts. It's a great family celebration for ages three year through 5th grade.
Sanibel Community Church is located at 1740 Periwinkle Way (next to Jerry's Market). For more information call Kathy at 472-2684.

Easter Egg Hunt At Island Inn Open To All:
The Easter Sunday, the Island Inn will host its 2nd annual Easter egg hunt on its beachfront property. All Island Inn guests and children from the Sanibel & Captiva community are welcome.
As the first inn on Sanibel, Island Inn has hosted families for Easter Sunday since 1895 and the tradition will continue again on April 8.
The egg hung, with more than 500 eggs hidden on site, is just part of the spring holiday celebration at the Island Inn. Miss Silvia will also be on hand to do complimentary face painting for the children. Open to all children 12 years and under, the Easter egg hunt includes three golden eggs with a special prize inside.
The hunt will begin at 11 a.m. on the south side of the front office building, and will end once all the eggs are found.
Island Inn is located at 3111 West Gulf Drive.
